  Tag's 'N' Quotes
This project sprang to mind when Cath Wilson of Katy's Corner had an idea for a proposed tag & quote swap on Katy's Corner UK yahoo group. I thought to myself what a good idea, you can use tags to make a book, embellish a card, and hide the tags in a box as I have done, the list goes on. Also as far as occasions go, well you can use the idea to personalize the quotes to any theme or celebration. To name but a few, Christmas, birthdays, weddings, new baby and anything else you may wish to celebrate. I decided to make a matchbox style box with the tags folding out of the box on both sides of the base. I do hope you enjoy looking at this project in the various stages, and hopefully will be inspired to come up with your own variation on this idea.

  Matchbox Tags and Quotes

On the left is the part of the matchbox that slides over the base, the lines were scored before I decorated the outside of the box using the direct to paper method. The grey area on the right of the image is a mask to avoid this part being coloured with the ink, by doing this it enables the double-sided tape to stick well.

The picture on the right is the base, scored equally from the edge on all sides leaving a base to suite whatever tag size you use. Mask the four corners after cutting out the v sections and decorate both sides. The outside I decorated using direct to paper and on the inside I stamped a large flower and stippled it to add some colour

Stamp the tags using various inks and stamp images. When all the large tags are stamped make some smaller tags to accommodate the quote you wish to use. Then fasten the small tag to the large tag using a small brad, this will allow the small tag to open out, thus allowing the larger tag to be viewed fully.

Once the matchbox sleeve is stamped and assembled I then had fun looking in my stash of embellishments to decide what to use to embellish the front

The above two pictures are views of the tags on the left and the right of the matchbox base. I used strips of scored and folded card attached to the back of the tags, and then attached the ends of the strips to the inside of the box to allow the tags to be folded out
